About Lory

Experience counseling in my office or online.

Lory’s journey with helping others began early in her life. She is naturally inclined towards empathy, understanding, and creative insight. This gift became more evident during her high school years and beyond when she was voted most talkative in her high school class and naturally draws people to her. Lory was the “go to” person when facing difficulties. Becoming a professional counselor and establishing private practice has always been a passion and a life long goal.

Lory received her MS in mental health counseling from Shippensburg University in 2007. She returned to school 20 years after receiving her BS degree in Criminal Justice, Courts and Corrections from Shippensburg State College.

In the 20 years, prior to going back to school, she worked in an inpatient drug and alcohol facility, probation, and as an instructor for the Impaired Drivers Program. She married and started a family after dealing with 3 years of infertility and treatments. She continued to work part-time as an instructor for the past 25 years, as well as working other part-time jobs while raising her children. Her focus was helping her family develop to their full potentials as well as contributing to her hometown community by becoming involved in numerous volunteer activities.

When her children were more independent, she followed her passion and returned to school to focus on her life goal of helping those that are hurting in a professional role, bringing with her many major life experiences. She has personally dealt with infertility, miscarriages, suicide of a loved one, depression, and anxiety. Her faith in God has allowed her to overcome these difficulties and use her spiritual gift to help others. She has worked, in addition to the Court System, at outpatient mental health clinics, inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol facilities, as well as on an inpatient behavioral health unit.

Lory’s philosophy in counseling is strength based, meaning she believes in the general goodness of each person, and that each person has potential and strengths individual to them and their life’s purpose. This includes her belief in you.

Lory will provide you with the opportunity to share your story in a safe way, feel heard, and be encouraged and challenged to continue a unique journey of self discovery, growth, and healing. Whatever it is that you are struggling with, no matter how desperate, lost, or hopeless life may feel, or how many mistakes you think you’ve made, you deserve support and the chance to reach your full potential.
